About Multitouch input method

Multi-touch is the ability of a touchscreen (or a touchpad) to recognize at least two points of contact on the surface simultaneously. The steady tracking of the different points enables the phone interface to recognize gestures, which allows good functionality, for example, Pinch to zoom.

The multi-contact detecting doesn’t deal with the resistive kind of touchscreens, the capability comes in capacitive touchscreens (majority part of touch telephones these days).
