About CIF (Common Intermediate Format)
CIF is referred to as a standardized format for the picture resolution, color space, frame rate and color sub sampling of digital video sequences used in video teleconferencing systems. A standard resolution used by some digital cameras for images or video is 352 x 288 pixels.
Also, Variations include QCIF (Quarter CIF) – 176 x 144 pixels – and SQCIF (Sub Quarter CIF) – 128 x 96. Some references to CIF are intended to refer only to its resolution (352 × 288), without intending to refer to its frame rate.
